Kingdom Kupboards

Our Story

A poem by the founder

Write, children, write

is what Ms. Jill Scott said

and boy did that little girl

write

She saw a lot

heard a lot

thought and dreamed

and said little

She wore a smirk

afraid to smile

but to avoid one completely

she didn't always know how

She had ideas

inventions too

and poems for days

and a tear or two

With worlds and worlds

forming in her mind

she had to release it

line by line

A quiet girl

timid and shy

in a pen on paper

her brilliance shined

Her heart ached

her mind soared

but not out loud

her thoughts, the pages bore.

But why just write

she was made to create

so a series of lessons

she piled on her plate

Awkward hands she trained to sew

up textblocks

and covers

as she began to glow

Paper and thread

felt at home in her hand

and the writers around her

had a great demand

So for each one

data she collected

and she envisioned homes

in which THEIR thoughts could be collected

Each Kupboard special

developing skills anew

and now she builds Kupboards

for all of you

The Founder

Sade L. McAllister, not knowing in her youth, was born a prophetic scribe. This means, she consistently and frequently carries out scribal functions such as administration, education, and creative works, AND submits those works to the will of God and His purpose for her life.

She is a published co-author of Occupy: An Anthology of Encouragement, Discovery, and Inspiration with additional works to come. During the week she serves administratively at the Texas Department of Criminal Justice.

Sade has been book binding since May of 2020 following a long neglected yearning to learn the craft, and she primarily creates journals. She believes that all people of all ages, should be empowered to use their voice. With writing being the only way she knew how to use hers for so many years, journals, also known as Paper Kupboards, naturally found her.

Through community events and her involvement with the local foster care community, she works to promote literacy and to encourage a love of reading and writing.

Now, in this present venture, she brings Kingdom Kupboards to you so that you may, too, fulfill your purpose with the aid of a Paper Kupboard that inspires you to write, not just purchase a generic journal that you might toss to the side.

Our Mission

Giving purpose to every page.

At Kingdom Kupboards, our mission is to encourage and inspire YOU to put pen to paper through journals that feel like a well suited home for your thoughts.

In doing so, we hope that as an owner of our Paper Kupboards, you will:

~ grow closer to God through the development of a consistent and meaningful prayer life.

~ take on a more active role in your growth and/or healing process by way of consistent journaling and reflection on past entries.

~ follow through on your short and long term goals, when you are able to clearly map out the vision for each project and plan.

Paper Kupboards

Handmade journals to suit you.

You may be asking, "Paper Kupboards? Huh?!" Well, settle in. I'm here to explain.

First, let's look at what a cupboard is, traditionally speaking.

cup·board

/ˈkəbərd/

noun

a cabinet or small recess with a door and typically shelves, used for storage.

*Definition from Oxford Languages

At Kingdom Kupboards, we like to simplify this definition to:

"A vessel, or piece of furniture, made to hold, store, and or display various items (often of great value and/or use)."

When we look at it through the Kingdom Kupboards lens, it becomes clear that a journal is more than a pretty cover housing pages for writing. It is, in fact, a cupboard. We use them to hold our ideas, plans, prayers, and even our joys and pains. Our history. We pull out our Paper Kupboards when we get the urge to document our experiences, both external and internal, and return to the pages (or shelves) to reflect on years past. We display our hearts and growth in these Kupboards, and when we decide that what is found therein requires privacy and protection, we choose one with a lock on the door.

Paper Kupboards are mighty tools. Every person deserves to have one that feels like home. This is why we put great love, care, and thought into each design.
